Shameless Self Promotion

© David Torrence

Things have been productive here at the studio the last week.
I had a great shoot for Craft magazine of artist Michael Arron Mcallister.
More images for Justine Peterson, and to add a little spice in the mix a
shoot at Basil Spice Thai Cuisine on South Grand.

Cheryl Wassenaar

© David Torrence

A few weeks ago I photographed a new piece of work by artist Cheryl Wassenaar.
We both used to have our studios in the same building a few years ago where I shot environmental portraits of her (above). Cheryl constructs her artwork from discarded commercial signage by transforming segments into colors and patterns incorporating language and numerals. Most of her other work hangs on the wall, but these new pieces are freestanding structures that measure 8.5 to 9 feet tall with different designs on all four sides. The images were shot at the different angles, and then with a human subject to show the sense of scale. Thanks to Mark Miselnicky for providing the human scale factor.

Panoramic

© David Torrence

I recently finished a roll of film shot with a Ultronic panorama camera. It is a Goodwill find that has a crappy plastic lens for 80 cents. I like the framing along with the lo-fi effect.

Missing

© David Torrence

How sad is this. It seems someone has lost their cat in my neighborhood. These missing signs are posted everywhere. The thing that I find curious is that in today's world of technology with cheap consumer cameras, cellphone cameras etc. they did not have a picture of "Cooper" and had to rely on sketch artist's skills from memory. So sad. Kind of reminds me of the liger drawings in Napoleon Dynamite.
