Autism

©David Torrence

I photographed this feature on autism back in the spring for St. Louis Magazine. The two subjects were Mia and Tanner. Both kids have a form of autism. While at first it seemed a difficult subject to convey visually without appearing cliche', I felt that in the end I was able to provide an in-depth look into their lives. I am thankful to both kids and their families for opening their homes to me with hopes of helping people better understand this disease. This was by far my most challenging and rewarding project this year. You can listen to an audio interview with writer Jeannette Cooperman about the article here. Below are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

Location

Things have been productive here at the studio the last few weeks, between jobs for new clients, edits, estimates, bills, promos, and testing. The only toll besides the heat is the challenge to turn a mundane corporate setting into a wonderful image. I enjoy the test of creativity to transform a cubicle or a blah boardroom into an interesting environmental shot. And trust me, it can be a real challenge.
